After years of working hard in the Canadian underground, it looks like Calgary's own Halfcut is ready to reach that next level. 

Inspired by the likes of Nas, 2pac, Biggie, Big L and Mobb Deep, Halfcut has been steadily working on his craft and releasing music for over a decade.

With a sound that combines the classic boom-bap style of rap’s golden era with intelligent lyrics and a raw, hard-hitting flow Halfcut is truly is a rapper for the people. His tracks often focus on the struggles of daily life and the long climb to success.

After becoming infatuated with the gritty rhythms of hip-hop while listening to Cypress Hills legendary Black Sunday at a Young age. Halfcut has since put out a string of well-received mix-tapes and has began gaining a growing international cult following for his intelligent, yet infectious bars.

Halfcut has played a number of renowned music events over the years such as SXSW Festival, Sled Island and One Love Music Festival. Often performing alongside legends such as Talib Qwali, Pusha T, Freddie Gibbs, Ghostface, Nas and J Cole. All it takes is one track and it is easy to see why Halfcut was recently placed on a list of 11 reasons why Calgary’s rap scene deserves your attention.
